This is a great stop along I-80. You could pay to visit the museum portion, or do as we did, and simply enjoy the space. They were a few minutes from closing when we stopped, so we quickly went throu… MemoryMaker5的完整评论

We took a shot and stayed there both on our trip to Illinois and on our trip home. We found it to be one of the nicest places we stayed as there was not a lot of in-and-out traffic. We pretty much had the whole place to ourselves and nobody bothered us I would recommend stopping here to stay any time that you're in the area. Thank you all above for your suggestions.
How much time would you suggest I allow for a stop here? I will be traveling with a 6 year old and making a roadstop here.

We were there about two hours which would be the minimum. If the weather is nice you can enjoy the outdoors while the 6 year old runs off some steam! :)
Has anyone visited both this Museum and the Golden Spike Museum in North Platte. We only have time for one and wondering which stop would be best. I am traveling with 2 older teens. We enjoy history and photography.

Hi Michelle, It's really a matter of personal preference. Having raised three kids, my advice would be to show them pictures of each or let them research online and let them choose, that way they have made the choice and the enjoyment factor is in their court. I personally enjoyed the archway more, easy to access, more interesting exhibits. The trains were a little more removed. You are viewing the great scope of the train yards but at a distance. Also, a little more off the beaten path.
