What is the true official website of the Colosseum? Every site I have found sounds like they are so I am confused. Thanks in advance.

Official site is Parco Archeologico del Colosseo (sorry can't post the link they won't let me. All the other sites are 3rd party resellers and charge more. They also can't guarantee they have tickets. Avoid Viator/Go/TA as none of them are the official site. Also you might struggle to get tickets until close to visit day. I'd been trying for months and only got tickets a few days before we went. Get the best all areas you can as parts of the Forum need the extra park access.
1st time coming to Rome in the summer love history and sight seeing seems to be a lot off diff types of coliseum tours what one do people recommend for soaking up the history and learning.

I would disagree...there aren't that many different tours. Perhaps you are commenting on the number of different third party tour operators. Be aware that if you book through a third party (and not through the official ticketing website), your reservation is NOT guaranteed. You could make a reservation right now for next summer with a third party and they may send a cancellation email days before your trip to Rome. If you want to avoid that situation, wait for the ticket / tour release and book through the official website. One downside of booking through the official website is that they currently do not offer a tour which covers all 3 attractions - the Colosseum, RF and PH. If you want your tour to include the RF and PH, you will need to book through a third party.
