We did not have any problems booking when we arrived at the park...Iguazu Jungle (name of the tour company) had a lot of space...but must say it was a miserable day...poring rain. Even on a regular day I would not think there would not be lack of space. Our hotel had suggested that we only book the water portion of the tour (Aventura Nautica) much cheaper (the jungle ride is absolutely not worth it). I totally agree, but unfortunately we were told that that particular day the Aventura Nautica tour was not available due to a landslide and we could not embark on the boat from that location. Since we had no choice...being only there for that day, we bought the Gran Aventura i.e. full tour (after reading other reviews I feel it was a calm day and they were trying to make more money- as mentioned the full tour is more expensive). Having done the Gran Aventura tour I can attest that your time would be better served doing only Aventura Nautical i.e. the boat tour. You could use more time exploring the three different trails to view the falls from different vantage points. All really worth it- we did the three and each have something to offer. (no charge part of your entrance ticket) The Gran Aventura costed1200 Argentinian pesos per person and the Aventura Nautical would have been 750 Argentinian pesos. Hope this is helpful
My husband and I will be visiting Iguazu from San Diego 2/20 - 2/23/18, so we have 2 days to see everything including the town. Based on what I have read on line it seems like we don't have to book any tours in advance - just go with some pesos in our pockets (and maybe a packed lunch from the hotel). I would book a tour or in advance if it is going to save us from standing in long lines. We certainly want to see the falls and park & take a boat ride under the falls, maybe a jungle 4x4 excursion if it's worth it. One reviewer said that we can drop the upper Circuit if we run out of time. Any recommendations about how to do the 2 days? Thank you.

You do not need to buy tickets in advance for the gran aventura tour which I would NOT recommend...The Aquatic tour is cheaper and you get the thrilling part with the boat ride. We did not witness any lines for buying tickets. We have done the Gran Aventura because we were told that the Aquatic one was not available due to heavy rain the previous day ...but I can assure you that you will not be missing anything by doing only the Aquatic tour (nothing to be seen in the 4x4 ride to the boat). Very important you must bring 500 argentinian pesos CASH (no credit cards) per person to pay your entrance to the National Park where the falls are. Once you enter the park you may do the three trails. They all offer different perspectives and are totally worth it. In a single day (starting at 10h00am) we did the gran Aventura tour and walked the three trails. Finished at approximately 5h00pm. Mind you it was a miserable day with heavy rain perhaps this is why they were not loads of people but it was nevertheless beginning of January, one of the busies touristic period. Note that there are a few restaurants in the park, not fine dining but acceptable. If we would have had another day we would had done the Brazil side...but check if you need a visa to do so...As Canadians we did and it was not worth the price for a few hours on the Brazilian side and since we only had one day we were happier seeing all on the Argentinian side. I'd suggest doing the whole walkround in the morning and then doing the boat trip afterwards. You won't be hot after you've been soaked!!!!
