Fascinating place to visit. A bit of an uphill hike and rocky, so watch your footing. Go early if you want to beat the crowds. DebbiD_11的完整评论

Bit of a tough walk up and down if you have serious knee issues, but it’s worth it for the views. The total time was about an hour SHShakeel的完整评论

There's not enough left of the actual centuries old fort, but the view off the cliffs makes it incredibly worth it, especially for only 5 EUR in entrance fees. Be aware that it's a two-hour walk from… silveranicore的完整评论

Hi Micksum, If you look at Inis Mór on Googlemaps there are three roads heading east-west from Cill Rónáin towards Dún Aonghasa. The northernmost one runs along the north coast of the island and is mostly used by cyclists, as well as some buses and jarveys. The middle route is the main road and is mostly used by buses and heads uphill from Cill Rónáin. This road can be busy in the middle of the day during the summer. The best route for walkers in the sothernmost road. This road is closed to traffic and is only used by farmers to access their fields in the winter so it will be very quiet. The road is not paved so most cyclists don't use it. Walking the southern road (signposted An Bóthar Ó Dheas) should take about 2 hours, whereas the other routes will take about 1.5 hours.
I will be in Galway in mid September. How do I get there? Car/ferry??

Take the ferry from the mainland, then choose your island touring preference, by bike, trap and pony, or island tour. The ferry is for people only, you may not bring your car to the island. We had a good weather day, so the bikes were perfect. The electric bike was great for the hills on the island.
We have plans to visit the Aran Islands in June with our children, ages 10 and 5.5. Is the terrain at Dun Aonghasa too difficult and/or unsafe for children? If bringing children is ill-advised, should we focus our time on the islands elsewhere or skip the visit to the islands entirely and wait until they are older? Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Great for kids but like every other cliff you hang on to your kids. Landscape amazing they will live it. Beautiful beach close by too.
