Weather in the Sierras can be very fickle and time of year...I would not try to predict what the weather is like up there in the spring...maybe as it gets closer check with local weather reports. Beautiful area though....enjoy!!

I am planning on going up to Mammoth this weekend, but I am getting a hotel in June Mountain because it is far cheaper there, and I am wondering if I should go to June Mountain rather than Mammoth Mountain. Can you tell me how the snow is there? I know there was just a snowstorm up in Mammoth, so hopefully there's nice powder there, which is mainly what I'm looking for.

By the way, my family has owned up at June Lake since 1960, and I have skied there almost exclusively for the last 50 years. Absolutely love the fact there are almost never any lines at June, the exception might be chair 1 which is used for loading to get up to the main chalet on the top of chair 1. Sometimes, the lines build up a bit between 8:00 and 10:00 on big weekends. Even the longest line is still only about 10 to 20 minutes.
