Is it possible to take night sky photos at the location ? I am looking for nearby locations where I can see the lighthouse and where it is legal to park at night and pay minimal fees.

Sorry, not a camper, but I would suggest contacting the town of Pescadero office in Pescadero. The town is very small and about 5 minutes from the lighthouse..
Was there still renovation going on? Wondering if you can get in the lighthouse?
答:
It doesn't look like renovations have even started; I didn't get the impression it will be fixed up for another 20 years or so (being honest here). Nothing really driving it.
Is Pigeon Point Lighthouse lit up at night? I have seen night time pictures on websites and wondered if it was lit up year round.

While the original Fresnel lens has been removed from the lighthouse and is on display for tourists, the Coast Guard installed a beacon and the lighthouse is still used by ships to navigate. So yes, the lighthouse still has a rotating light. If you want to take photos of the beacon at night, you can get some interesting effects.

It depends on where you are staying or starting from. Going down Hiway #1 (Pacific Coast Highway) is a great way to see the coast on down to Pigeon Point and beyond (Santa Cruz, Monterey, Carmel & Big Sur. That is, if you start in SF and go south. You may not make it all the way down to Big Sur if you are limited on time and want to see other things. Unfortunately, touring California means doing some driving, but if you pick the right route, the getting there is part of the magic since there are such beautiful seascapes to behold! Do some research on tidal pools, if you are interested in seeing some of those. There are some just north of Half Moon Bay (which is a cool little town) and also more toward Santa Cruz. If you don't mind driving, think about traveling south on Rte 1 and then cut over toward Felton or Big Basin. This way, you will see the seaside and some beautiful redwoods. Muir Woods, north of SF is incredible as well, but more populated with tourists than you would find in the Santa Cruz mountains. You have to make choices and then just mark off those things you missed that you can do at your next visit! Enjoy!
