Nacogdoches has awesome shopping downtown. Antiques, stained glass art, boutiques, etc. Big farmers market on Sat morning and Wed evening with delicious produce & well-made crafts. La Carreta, El Ranchero, Butcher Boys BBQ, Pe-King chinese are all good resturants. I've heard Anti-Pasta is good too. Sight-seeing:Ruby Mize Arboretum at SFA state univ., blueberry picking at The Blueberry Place, Historic Register homes near downtown, El Camino Real, Caddo Mounds. Lufkin is bigger but has less character. Crockett is closest, but don't know much about it. Personally, I'd never get bored at Ratcliff Lake. Cook foil packet meals over the fire or kabobs, swim kayak fish etc on the lake, hike the trails, look at the CCC pavilion architecture & history, look at sawmill ruins. Hope this helps!
