This is very accessible, and as such more crowded. Went here at sundown and the colors were magnificent. Wall off the paved road and onto one of the trails for a better experience. msa23_2000的完整评论
We are doing road trip and flying from LAX to Las Vegas and staying there for two nights. We are going to go to Grand Canyon and stay for night there and then on to Death Valley for a night before we fly from Vegas to San Fran. Anyone any tips folks??

Make sure and stop at Zabriskie's point. One night in Death valley is plenty of time. The Fry bread tacos on the Indian reservation are good and cheaper than the food in the lodge.
Thinking of visiting Death Valley National Park early December, is it a good month to visit?

Absolutely a great time, possible to do hikes because weather is cooler. I went there in September after several trips in the winter, I prefer winter months.
My husband and I would like to visit Death Valley from 13 - 16th February, 2017. We will be driving a hired car (so no snow tyres and no chains allowed) Can the roads be snow covered? What areas of sight seeing are on cleared roads? We would love to see desert scenery with snow covered mountains. We are in our 70's and this is our only opportunity so any useful advice to make the most of our visit will be appreciated.

Usually the only snow you'll find in Death Valley area are on the high peaks. Therefore, most of Death Valley roads are accessible during winter months. You will see dessert scenery with snow covered mountains. I highly recommend staying at a hotel inside the park. We are in our 60's and stayed three nights at the Furnace Creek Ranch. Location was awesome! We did not hike, due to extreme heat during our June visit. Everything we visited was on paved roads and an easy walk to view point. Some of our favorite view points were Dante's View, Zabriskie Point, Badwater, Artist Drive, Ubehebe Crater (not to be missed, awesome!), Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, Devil's Golf Course, Twenty Mule Team Canyon, Charcoal Kilns (beautiful ride and last 2 miles are on dirt road. No problems driving our car on the dirt road. Don't miss this, the scenery is spectacular). BEWARE - if you plan to visit Racetrace you'll have to rent a jeep near Furnace Creek Ranch. You will not make it with regular car and tires. We did not visit Racetrace.
