Reading the reviews and visiting the website, it seems as if this is primarily a wedding venue, but maybe I'm missing something. I'd be interested in visiting the internal parts of the castle as well as walking around the grounds. Is this possible? I can't spot an entrance fee mentioned anywhere, which leads me to believe it may not actually be a "visitor attraction". Can anyone shed light on this?

Thank you for your enquiry. The castle grounds are open to the public free of charge 7 days a week. The castle is a working building so is only available to clients who hire rooms for weddings, private and corporate hire. We do however organise events throughout the year including castle open days which are free of charge. Please visit hertford.gov.uk/events for a full listing of castle events taking place this year. Our next castle open day is on Sunday 21st August although our next event is a free of charge music festival on Sunday 7th August.
