Pork roll/Taylor ham is a precooked processed pork product made from lean cuts of pork, sugar, and spices that's then lightly smoked for a bit of tangy flavor. It comes in either a roll or pre-sliced.

It's this contentious cured ham that made the pork roll, egg, and cheese a legend in New Jersey. In other parts of the country, a breakfast sandwich typically means egg, cheese, and some sort of meat.
