But they're more comfortable and definitely make more sense on ISO boards. TLDR: If you want to use unconventional typing techniques to make your row-staggered keyboard more comfortable, you can't do better than ISO.

2020年8月6日 · It took me a while to find a working solution for setting up German Umlaute on my ANSI Layout keyboard. There are multiple options out there. US International Keyboard: not recommended for Germans since every Umlaut is on a totally different key. I believe you need to press " to activate the Umlaut-Layer.

I'm using an ANSI keyboard now. Here's the £ character. £££££. If you have a UK English layout set on Windows or Mac or whatever, then pressing Shift + 3 gives you £. Similarly, right alt + 4 gives you €, right alt + e gives you é, etc etc. It's really not an issue at all, and opens up a much wider range of keyboards and keycaps.

EDIT: Just found out that P52 is a lot cheaper here (still available) and basically with the same performance as P53. I am going to purchase one with ISO keyboard and replace it with aftermarket ANSI.

2022年3月24日 · Depending on the keyboard, you can always use a program to reconfigure the keys. QMK if you have a compatible keyboard (or VIA, easier), or then simply a program from your OS. sharpkeys worked for me on Windows. The difference is with qmk/via, it will be saved inside your keyboard, and without, it will be saved as a keyboard layout in Windows.

Was muss ich beachten wenn ich ein ANSI Keyboard mit DE Layout benutzen will? Also zB deutsche Keycaps, kann man eine ANSI Tastatur mit ISO DE Einstellungen am PC verwenden usw.?

2016年9月4日 · Here's my take. If you think you can live with the layout (ANSI left shift and enter) then you'll be fine. The legends don't even matter all that much, I don't speak a word of German, but one of my favorite keysets is QWERTZ, so I've got your Ä, Ö, Ü and ß (though I still use the ANSI enter/shift) and I actually prefer how it looks even though the keycaps don't correspond …

2023年2月8日 · Windows will interpret whatever the keyboard is sending out. ISO-Finnish in my case. That means that I only need to figure out which ANSI keys Windows would interpret as which ISO-Finnish keys, and make the necessary changes in VIA. These are the only changes I made in VIA, from left to right on the keyboard.

Too many variables, you need to tell us which keyboard you have, because their PCBs are all different. It would be a lot simpler to just buy a board in iso layout. FWIW, larger OEMs like CM, Varmilo or Leopold would certainly have a common pcb for both ANSI and ISO, so electrically it would be possible.
