2006年10月21日 · The engine you have pictured above is a Chrysler Windsor Spitfire V8. The engine ID number is located on the top of the front of the block between the oil filler pipe and the water pump. It will have a suffix with a W which indicates Windsor. Post the ID number and we can tell you what year and the engine cubic inch.

2008年3月30日 · That one has 3 hold down bolts per valve cover, and shares the same bottom end as the 331/354 Chrysler hemi engines. Looking at the big Chrysler poly heads, they are similar to the later Chevy 348/409 or Chevy 396/427/454, or Ford 351/400 and 429/460 families. Those Chrysler polys were years ahead of their time, in 1955.

2004年3月6日 · I remember years ago, my father swapped the spitfire into a dodge truck. The spitfire engine is 2 inches longer and most of the distance is made up of wider main and rod bearings. The Dodges and Plymouths were weak in that area. I remember the old spitfire in the truck would occasionally hang the throttle wide open.

2014年7月6日 · I just got this one a couple months ago and not for sale - a real good running one out of a 1954 chrysler.... the spitfire head engines-251 and 264.5 ended in 1954. The 265 engines have tons of pulling power-much better than the 251. I have a 1952 1 ton dodge pu with a sodium valve 265 I put in it in 1973. I still drive it- great engine. Bob

2017年11月24日 · Thanks for the confirmation that it is a 251 Spitfire Head. Is the 1120796 head a Spitfire head or just a plain head. I have a 241 Spitfire head out of a ‘41 Chrysler, that I installed in my IND-7(236) to increase the compression ratio. The number on this head is 869847-1. Casting date of 2-20 which I assume to be Feb. of 1941 or maybe 1940.

2011年10月3日 · Folks, Chrysler Vehicles equipped with fluid drive, could be equipped with either a three speed standard transmission or the semi automatic M6 which was a dual range trans with two gear sets in each range. The fluid drive is the intermediary power transfer assembly.

2014年2月12日 · The 354 block continued through 1958 using the Polyspheric heads and was called the Chrysler "Spitfire V8". This was used in the Chrysler Windsor and Saratoga models from 1955-1958. From the above link. I know it is not a wedge engine. It is a 1958 saratoga 4bbl spitfire engine; still in the car.

2006年10月11日 · The same engine with 3 7/16 bore was used in Chrysler and DeSoto from 1942 up. They came in 236 (4 1/4" stroke) 251 (4 1/2" stroke) and 265 (4 3/4" stroke). The same engine was used in trucks to 1962 and military spec Power Wagon 4WD trucks to 1968.

Part of a series of engines made from 1937 or 38 up to the early seventies, used in Chrysler and DeSoto cars until 1954, in Dodge trucks until 1968 and in Dodge Power Wagon military vehicles until 1972 also Chrysler industrial and marine engines possibly as late as 1972.
