2013年2月18日 · Sons Of Guns is not gunsmithing. you coudln't have a show about what real gunsmiths do. nobody would watch it. we don't blow shit up. we don't mount .50 cal machine guns to motorcycles. we are surgeons. and our patients are firearms. also....gunsmithing is not a job. it's a passion and a lifestyle. it's not something we do for money.

2021年5月27日 · Most of the classes use youtube videos as reference, and articles from American Gunsmith. I've taken the AR 15 adv. armorers course and about 4 months of their classes after, I dont plan to use my gi bill or army funding to pay for the rest, if I go back.

2021年1月3日 · I currently work as a machinist for a firearms manufacturing company. I’m curious if anyone has experience with the American Gunsmithing Institute, and if they’re a viable source for training to become a full time gunsmith. Examples of your experience would be greatly appreciated as the whole DVD experience seems kind of scammy.

2022年7月11日 · Howdy, I am currently a student of American Gunsmithing Institute and it's a great option instead. It's less $ than Sonoran Desert Institute and isn't accredited, meaning you cannot use GI bill. However, being a gunsmith does not require anything but a Federal Firearms License, which any non felon can get.

2019年12月5日 · SDI 'graduates' where literally unhirable, even for entry level positions, due to the lack of any basic gunsmithing experience gained from SDI. Ive discussed SDI with heads from other gunsmithing programs, its all unanimous, they are not a school, but a print shop thats prints out an expensive piece of paper and they pray on veterans.

2020年2月26日 · I am a self taught “gun smith” I mostly put factory parts on guns, clean and replace springs. I started buying old crappy guns and fixing them up using them for a bit and selling them when someone offered at the range.

2012年6月25日 · My advice to you is to skip the school in Pennsylvania. Realistically, something that will be MUCH cheaper is go to American Gunsmithing Institute's Website and start buying their DVD's. They're extremely informative and will show you how to do everything from the very basics to the full-on custom work.

2023年4月16日 · To be a gunsmith you would need to get an apprenticeship or go to an in person school to get to that level. So definitely not a scam just maybe not marketed properly. 100% worth it if it’s free and you’re not doing anything else that’s why I did it. Two free guns, a bunch of tools, and an optic. that the army would essentially be paying for.

2023年5月20日 · Depends on the school. Mine was 66 weeks. My school offered day and night classes, day was 52 weeks but was around 6 hours a day while night course was 66 weeks because it was around 4 hours a day. The best gunsmithing school in the US is in Colorado though, and I wish I could have gone to that one, but the one I went to was sufficient.
