Crocodile River Mine (CRM) is a shallow, long-life hybrid platinum group metals mine on the western limb of the Bushveld complex, 70 km north-northwest of Johannesburg in the North West Province of South Africa.

“Crocodile River incorporates the Zandfontein, Crocette and Kareespruit mines, and is located on the Western Limb of the Bushveld Complex in South Africa’s North West Province.” The balance of the existing TSF will be re-mined and processed at the Crocodile River Mine processing facility as per current operations.

The Crocodile River Mine's strategic location near Rustenburg, combined with its underground mining operations and utilization of open stope methods, has positioned it as an important contributor in the South African mining industry.

The initial phase of Eastplats’ Zandfontein underground section at the Crocodile River Mine in South Africa is now operational, marking the end of the mine’s care and maintenance period since 2013. Since 2017, the company has been reprocessing existing tailings to recover chrome with by-product PGMs from the Zandfontein tailings storage facility.

The Crocodile River Mine, situated in the Bushveld Complex, is in an area known for containing a significant portion of the world’s PGMs-bearing ore. As part of its long-term plan, Eastplats intends to ramp up production at the Zandfontein underground operations.
