The best ending would be for Van Helsing and the others to kill Dracula and Mina as the Italian guerrillas did to Clara Petacci and Mussolini.

2021年5月11日 · The 1992 one is popular, but takes a lot of liberties with the material, like tying Dracula to Vald Tepes and having the reincarnation/love story plot. The 1931 with Lugosi is a classic, and worth a look.

It's not scary though. The visuals are great and the acting flip flops between great (dracula and helsing) to keanu reeves in "Bram Stokers Dracula " lol . Also this movie is so over the top horny and brutal that it feels more like a comedy. The whole "dracula is a misunderstood soul missing his dead wife " angle is also bizarre.

Adapted several times to the silver screen before (most famously with the likes of Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee as the Prince of Darkness), Coppola was determined to make his take stand out from the rest.

As for Dracula in this particular movie-well yeah, he is a horrible monster who murders people and turns them into food or vampires and he is somewhat sad in regard to his situation with Mina, cause Mina is the only one he cares about while he doesn’t give a damn about others.

It's not being faithful. But trying to justify Dracula's actions. Nosferatu by FW Murnau and Werner Herzhog makes big changes, but doesn't try to turn Dracula into a tragic romantic hero. Dracula with Bela Lugosi is also not faithful to the book's story, but Dracula is not a tragic romantic hero.

I mean, I love Nosferatu, don't get me wrong, but Coppola's Dracula is far, far closer to the original story. It takes liberties with the relationship between Mina and Dracula, and the prologue about Vlad the Impaler is not in the book at all, but it gets tons of the details right- including lots of stuff that most movies alter.

For instance Dracula stalking Mina because she reminds him of his lover is a great addition, makes it more of a twisted love story. The other part is the book itself truly goes full blockbuster mode when Van Helsing shows up and things take off. The film nailed this aspect.
