As the national repository of Japanese American history, JANM creates groundbreaking historical and arts exhibitions, educational public programs, award-winning documentaries, and innovative curriculum that illuminate the stories and the rich cultural heritage of people of Japanese ancestry in the United States.

The Japanese American National Museum (全米日系人博物館, Zenbei Nikkeijin Hakubutsukan) is located in Los Angeles, California, and dedicated to preserving the history and culture of Japanese Americans.

2024年9月6日 · In 2025, JANM will embark on a renovation of its Pavilion and an ambitious reimagining of its core exhibition. JANM will say farewell to its longtime core exhibition “Common Ground: The Heart of Community” on Jan. 5, after which the Pavilion will close to the public.

A new pop-up exhibition at JANM features photographs that record the moments and people that make up life in Little Tokyo, from Nisei Week Parades and political protests to schoolchildren and sports stars.

Since opening to the public in 1992, JANM has presented over 100 exhibitions onsite while traveling 40 exhibits to venues such as the Smithsonian Institution and the Ellis Island Museum in the United States, and to several leading cultural museums in Japan and South America.
