2015年5月18日 · A melanoid will be m/m -- homozygous for the recessive gene that affects iridophores (shininess). They will always be m/m. Melanoid axolotls lack the shiny pigments that reflect light. Their eyes will not be shiny like a very dark wild type's might be. (My wild type axolotl, Titus, is very dark brown, but his eyes are a shiny copper color).

2014年12月21日 · water temp is about 65 f. they are eating frozen blood worms and earthworms. I feed the blood worms every day and the earth worms about every other day. The blood worms come in individual "cups" about the size of a gumdrop and I give each axolotl 1.

2015年6月21日 · We can't even positively call her a "she" yet. She also was not acting all frantic yesterday like my Melanoid was (due to the laying) and just seemed like her normal self. She also was not bloated (egg laden) prior to the egg laying like the Melanoid was. As well, there were some clumps that had both brown and white eggs mixed in the clump.

Some Wild Types are a sandy colour; but others are really dark and seem to be getting darker. The darker ones have dark grey...

Yesterday, while feeding him, I noticed a bump on his side (see pictures). Should I be worried about him? He is in a betta cup and gets his water changed daily. He has been pretty active and eating well as well.

2013年8月10日 · Hehe the yellow tint would point you towards a melanoid, whereas the white coloring points towards a white melanoid.. This does kind of look like it will be like the case of the unusual colored melanoid! I love seeing different variations in color morphs! Its so cool! I have an axanthic albino and a melanoid albino even that got me excited!
