2024年11月11日 · Hello everyone. I purchased my house about a year ago that has an existing chimney/stove pipe system but does not currently have a wood stove hooked up to it. To get the proper draft for the stove I am purchasing (Kuma Aspen LE), I need to extend my stove pipe further than it currently protrudes from my chimney.

2008年12月5日 · The only problem with this stove pipe set is; the wall radiation shield (the insulated through wall connector) is not designed to accept the horizontal pipe at an angle. The 1/4 inch rise per horizontal foot requirement creates a few degrees of angle on the horizontal pipe.

2006年12月27日 · The installer reduced my 8 in wall stovepipe to 6 inches the bottome 2 feet of the pipe. The stove smokes a lot. It doesn't heat the house even bringing the stove up to 600 degrees. The store refuses to upgrade me to a larger stove unless I replace all my pipe with 6 " single wall. Why will I get less smoke and better draft with the smaller pipe.
So what is the easiest way to cut stove pipe?

Of course, it is hard to figure the numbers, but I would guess that 10x as much 24 ga stove pipe (in terms of length) is still sold as opposed to 22 ga and double wall. Of course, if we use just "specialty retail stove shops", the figure would be less.

2007年8月17日 · Sealing is better, it does help draft which can give you a better fire. Smoke leaking out shouldn't be a concern, but air leaking into the pipe is not good. I would especially pay attention to the stove / pipe junction as most critical to seal. The other joints are important but less so. However the three screws are the most important thing ...

2012年3月17日 · Its easier to shine the light on the opposite side of the pipe where you're looking. Use the pipe to "eclipse" the main beam and the rest of the light should illuminate the leaking smoke nicely. At that point, my suggestion is to put a small bead of clear or black (whichever color your pipe is) high temp silicone OVER the joint.

2012年11月16日 · the size of the pipe, is 6" pipe from fireplace and it goes to a 4" pipe in the chimney, from what i can tell when i take the elbow off, i thought that was weird, yes we do clean out the elbow just as often as cleaning the chimney, we also empty it out at the bottom and make sure the chimney sweep goes all the way down.

2009年10月22日 · It is usually best to stick with the stove pipe sizing Buck recommends: 8". But in this case, I don't think it will make any difference. If you try 6", and it doesn't work, you can post your results we everyone will know. If the unlined chimney doesn't draw well, I would wait for the liner. Life is too short to fight with poorly drafting stoves.

2009年11月28日 · Friends built the addition to our home and installed our stove a little over three years ago. We clean the pipe with a chimney brush monthly from September through May. The past few days, creosote is running down the outside of the pipe that is inside the house, between the ceiling and the stove. The exterior pipe looks fine.
