2016年12月21日 · I keep seeing things online that the capacitor that keeps time for the original Xbox's internal clock is bad and should be removed or replaced. I sort of want to be able to keep time, so what should I replace it with? (Capacitance/voltage) Do these leak because they are too low a voltage of capacitor and ought to be upgraded? I dunno.

The original Xbox is a special case in many ways and will need attention when it comes to upkeep. Microsoft’s first console uses a capacitor to keep the internal clock running when the power is off. However, due to the capacitor plague, all revisions face the issue of leaking capacitors that can damage the motherboard.

2 天之前 · I bought a used Xbox (1.4). The chassis fan worked great before. But after I cleaned it up (new thermal paste, removed clock capacitor and replaced the chassis fan with a Noctua 60mm) the fan doesn't want to spin. I've tried setting the fan in the softmod settings as well in NKPatcher but neither work.

2014年11月20日 · It might be an issue with your clock capacitor in the XBOX itself on the Motherboard. You may have to take apart your Xbox, and will have to check the Motherboard for any corrosion leakage from the capacitor. If there is, you can easily remove the capacitor (or re-solder it if you feel talented enough) and clean off the residue.

2014年6月24日 · Most likely all, but the 1.6 version, Xbox's clock capacitor has leaked electrolyte onto the motherboard and done damage to the motherboard. The electrolyte needs to be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and cotton swabs or a soft toothbrush.
