John Alan Luginbill (born November 13, 1946) is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at San Diego State University from 1989 to 1993, compiling a record of 31–25–3.

San Diego State named Luginbill as its head football coach in 1989, where he spent the next five years. He was named Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 1991 after earning a berth in the Freedom Bowl. Among his standout recruits at SDSU were NFL Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk and six-time Pro Bowler La’Roi Glover.
