Charlie Brown is the only wide receiver in NFL history to play in back-to-back Super Bowls and Pro Bowls in his first two NFL seasons. In 1982 as a rookie, Brown helped the Washington Redskins win Super Bowl XVII (17) over the Miami Dolphins with the game clinching touchdown.

He played six seasons in the NFL for the Washington Redskins and Atlanta Falcons. He had 220 receptions for 3,548 yards and 25 touchdowns during his NFL career and earned the nickname Downtown Charlie Brown. He served as head coach for the Savannah High Blue Jackets and Kingstree Senior High School.

One of the first black players in Mizzou history, Brown stormed back to win the Big 8 Conference rushing title the next season, earning NCAA Honorable Mention and UPI All-American honors. All of which spring-boarded him to a five-year run, in professional football.
