2022年6月10日 · Only owned one 6 cylinder in my life the rest all 4 cylinder; The 6 cylinder wasn't anything special. The 02 WRX 2.0 turbo horizontally opposed boxer was a fantastic engine - 227 HP was the shit at the time. My 2016 GTI in line 4 turbo has a fantastic engine- with a ton of possibilities for increased performance.

But yeah I don’t think getting a 4 cylinder bmw will save much money because if your six cylinder bmw is well maintained (it probably isn’t) you’d realise that the m54 has the same fuel economy as the four cylinder models. Around 33-34mpg with 99 octane.

There's lots of others who qualify as tunable or high-output in stock form so yeah, depends on the definition of best. The VW-Audi OHC L4 (EA827) used in the B1 series were really good little engines, especially the 1.6l XX.

The 2TGEU was "the engine" from Toyota in the 70's it was the highest spec engine they had used in several racecars. I'd say this was my weakest suggestion, but the engine is still worth the monicker of "best 4 cylinder" over the 3sge. If you want to restrict the list to new engine es only, I don't think Toyota make any amazing 4 cylinders.

Mitsubishi 4B11. Yes Evos are cool and all, but similar story to the Subaru. The fact the new 2022 Outlander dropped the 4B1 in favor of Nissan's own PR series engine is probably the signal of the end of the line for Mitsubishi's own engine designs. At the end, I'm tied between the EA888 and B48 as the best "overall" modern 2.0L I4 powertrain.

Current best 4 stroke engine overall would probably still be from a bike, either the supercharged one from the H2/H2R, the great sounding crossplane one from the R1, or the crazy powerfull one from the S1000RR For car, Hondas have the best 4 cyllinder engines with their high redlines.

2022年11月5日 · The only neglect Toyota is guilty of is lack of variable valve timing. Fortunately, the Beams 3sge have it and they do mount up in the Celica, but only with some mild manifold acrobatics and the specialized Carlos Sainz edition hood. Otherwise, the 3s is a solid engine; I'm making 275 awhp with bolt-ons on a 25 year old 4 cylinder.

2023年3月5日 · Vibration. The 4 cylinder engine Is naturally unbalanced. The only naturally balanced engines are: 6 inline (the favorite Solution a decades ago), V12 and boxer. Starting 2.0, the 4c engines need balancers,which makes them more inefficient. Check the 2.4 dohc engine of the Chrysler pt cruiser.

2024年4月12日 · The 4.6 v8 2-valve was used in the mustang gt until 2004. 260 hp and 302 lb-ft. The 2.3 in the current mustang is 305 hp and 310 ft. Lb. Feel free to google the comparable 2000's v8 in the f150 to its modern 4 cylinder equivalent!

2024年3月14日 · Allowing coolant and oil to enter cylinder walls. Engine replacement is the only solution. This is going to be a problem as mileage starts to increase on these engines. 4 cyl engines in Disco sport/Evoque are snapping t chains @ 60k or just outside warranty due to cheaper installed parts. Sad they don't make a good engine right now.
