Geghard (Armenian: Գեղարդ, meaning "spear") is a medieval monastery in the Ararat province of Armenia, being partially carved out of the adjacent mountain, surrounded by cliffs. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with enhanced protection [1] status.

The restaurant for the wedding is located right on the cliff, with a fantastic view of the majestic gorge. Named for the lance used to wound Jesus at the crucifixion, this monastery complex is partially carved into the cliff face of the Azat River Gorge. Inside the church is a painting of St Mary with Child, an exquisite masterpiece. The vibes in this church are palpable. We took a private trip from Yerevan and our first stop was this.
