September 17th marks National Fox Day, a time to celebrate these fascinating and adaptable creatures. Here at the New Forest Wildlife Park, we're lucky to have had a few resident red foxes, as well as our current resident, Copper, and we thought we'd take this opportunity to share some interesting facts about them.

Foxes are born blind and open their eyes after about 9 -12 days. The young, called pups, kits or cubs, are threatened by small carnivores and birds of prey – hawks, owls and eagles so they remain close to their den for about 12 weeks. During this time they play with their littermates and learn basic survival techniques from their parents.

Fox Protection International is a non-profit organization dedicated to spreading awareness and supporting global efforts to protect fox species and their natural environments.
