Always wash your hands before starting the dressing change. Never put ointments, powders or lotions on or around the exit site unless you’re instructed to do so. Follow your LVAD team’s directions on how often to change the dressing. Follow strict “sterile technique” every time you change the dressing or touch the exit site area.

If you see any damage, let your LVAD team know immediately. Do not try to repair it yourself. Change your exit site dressing as instructed by your LVAD Team. When examining the exit site, make sure it’s clean and dry. Notify your LVAD Team immediately if you see any signs of injury, trauma or infection.

I've had a lvad since 1/16/2019. My issue is medicare keeps denying my lavd dressing kit costs. As of January 2020 (finally got out of hospital) I require a dressing change everyday because of drainage at the driveline site due to pseudomonas aeruginosa infection. I have been in and out of hospital for the entire year of 2020 due to this infection.
Sleeping and Showering with an LVAD | MyLVAD
Your LVAD may have a special shower bag that protects the driveline and device components. Your LVAD team will show you how to use your shower bag and also give you their recommendations for protecting the driveline exit site while showering. In this case, too, it may be best to schedule your shower around your exit site dressing changes.

2020年7月30日 · His LVAD team did not recommend self-changing. They DO recommend that we change his dressing every day (which I know is more often than some teams recommend). That may be because of where we live. It's very humid in Florida and sweatiness can be an issue. I also enjoy traveling, but we have no one else to do his dressing changes.

2012年7月31日 · Has anyone solved the problem of excessive sweating loosening the driveline dressing? Whenever my husband works outside when it is hot, he sweats so much that his driveline dressing loosens. I can't change the dressing more than once a day,but he sweats so much it is loose within 30 minutes of being outside.

2011年9月25日 · we have one of those 3 drawer plastic storage things on wheels. We have the power unit on top, and all of the supplies in the drawers. We have another 3 drawer plastic storage thing with other stuff in it, but the top is free for me to use for dressing changes. It doesnt even take 10 min for us to change the dressing.
