Well, it is detailed because it has hyper elevated response above a few hundred hertz. It sounds just like it measures. I brought down a number of peaks in the response and that made it somewhat reasonable to listen to.

2022年6月24日 · That's not in my wheelhouse. My 1991 JVC has very limited "software" EQ. But matching crossover frequencies to speaker frequency curves is well within my wheelhouse. In addition, the physical size and sensitivity of this midrange not only fit the characteristics of the crossover and the Yamaha NS-6490 in general, but enhance it slightly.

2022年6月24日 · Moving forward, I am now using these speakers as stands for my smaller Yamaha NS-AP5700BLF speakers, each with a vertically installed 6.5" woofer and 0.75" tweeter. Their bass coverage is almost as good, and their treble coverage might be a little better with the slightly smaller tweeter.

2020年2月27日 · I finally completed my NS-6490 improvement project. Installed the crossovers, replaced the mids, and added Acousta-Stuff polyfill. And since I don't have the knowledge and sophisticated equipment suggested here, I decided to do just the most basic testing available.

I was looking at the Sony SSCS5 (but had a rear port) ... or Yamaha NS-6490 (reviews said the cross over was non existant) .... and that gave me the Neumi BS5 Interesting .... I had not looked at the BS5P So ... $50 more that the passive ones.

2020年2月11日 · The same can be said for the Yamaha NS-6490. Cheap they were at less than $50 a pair. I had 4 of these examples, No bass at all. Treble Sparkle was MIA. Dynamic these were not. I wistfully characterize the sound of the NS-6490,on par with 70V ceiling speaker. About the same power handling as well.
