A carved and painted limewood sculpture of the former Saint Christopher is displayed in the Dining Room at Anglesey Abbey. The story of the giant Christopher carrying Christ across a river is depicted in this excellent example from the school of limewood sculpture that centred around Ulm, South Germany, from around 1450 to 1525.

Anglesey Abbey is a National Trust property in the village of Lode, 5 + 1 ⁄ 2 miles (8.9 km) northeast of Cambridge, England. The property includes a country house, built on the remains of a priory, 98 acres (400,000 m 2) of gardens and landscaped grounds, and a working mill.

NT 515148-51, four lead statues which today occupy Emperor’s Walk at Anglesey Abbey (NT 515148-51), crowned the Temple of Concord and Victory at Stowe until 1921 (Stowe Landscape Gardens 1997, pp. 47-50).

Lime Avenue: with views to the mill, the avenue is flanked by statues of Samson and Philistines by Van Nost. Temple Lawn: created in 1953 with golden yews and a green yew hedge also contains 12 Corinthian columns with two lions flanking the entrance and a copy of 'David' by Bernini in the center of the lawn.

Getting to Anglesey Abbey. Anglesey Abbey is located in the village of Lode, 6 miles northeast of Cambridge on the B1102 road.

2023年8月11日 · Anglesey Abbey, Gardens and Lode Mill is perfect if you’re looking for somewhere to spend a full day out. There’s so much to do with tons of space to have a picnic and relax along the way. The playground is one of the best we’ve seen at a National Trust site and the restaurant food was delicious and reasonably priced.

2023年2月12日 · Statues. This garden has many fine statues. At this time of the year these really added interest to my visit. However I was unsure about the horse head in a lead planter!

Anglesey Abbey has 114 acres of landscaped gardens to explore, and a renowned sensory Winter Garden to discover. Stroll through the wider estate on the 3-mile circular walk which takes in woodland, striking tree-lined avenues and winding paths through the historic gardens.
