Both are very safe, if done conservatively and under experienced hands. Eyelid surgery is as safe as dental work, if these factors are considered.

I advise my patients that after surgery they will most likely experience some noticeable swelling that will subside within two to six weeks. I had upper and lower Transconjunctival blepharoplasty 3 years ago. The doctor removed too much fat which resulted in excessive lower eyelid skin. He tried tightening with CO2 Fractal laser twice. This did not tiighten enough to remove bags. Last surgery was a Transcutaneous blepharoplasty with canthoplasty to prevent eyelid retraction.
