2021年12月9日 · Well that's a long story. I replaced the valve cover gasket several months ago, that was clearly leaking. That went fine. Even then I noticed the whistling sound that would continue briefly after turning off engine. I basically ignored it, until I learned it was the PCV in the valve cover, and to always replace the PCV when re-doing the gasket.

2023年8月5日 · Thanks, but that valve cover replacement has my confidence shot. I''m going to take it to a trusted mechanic's shop if anything. I'm looking at purchasing a new car. As much as I hate a car payment, it will be worth the reliability. Even before my valve cover replacement, I was not confident at all in the vehicle travelling over 50 miles in a trip.

The front main crankshaft seal, rear main crankshaft seal, head gasket, and timing cover seals are all of the other major seals. The 2 crankshaft main seals would be more susceptible to leaks if the valve cover gasket was brand new because these main seals are likely original and weaker than the brand new valve cover and valve cover gasket.

2020年6月3日 · The gasket I got from O'Reilly's was a Fel-Pro and seemed to be a bit better of a gasket than the OEM one, but it did not fit as tightly into the groove in the valve cover, so a lot of care was needed to make sure it stayed in place as the cover was positioned and bolts threaded in.

I had some oil leaking around the valve cover gasket area and decided to do it myself so ordered the FEL-PRO VS 50807 R Valve Cover Gasket Set part of amazon. It came w/ the blue gasket itself and 15 smaller rubber o-rings too.

2018年5月2日 · I have replaced the valve cover on my 2012 Chevy Cruze as well, everything is good. Head down the highway about 5 miles out it starts blowing oil all over the place from around the bolts. Can someone tell me if the grommets that came with my filter kit go at the bottom of the valve cover or on top of the valve cover bolts.
