Thiruvarutprakasa Vallalār Chidambaram Ramalingam (5 October 1823 – 30 January 1874), also known as Vallalār, Ramalinga Swamigal and Ramalinga Adigal, was one of the known Tamil Hindu saint and a notable Tamil poet of the 19th century.

Tamil saint, Tamil Poet, Social worker, and Spiritual Leader. Vallalar (Ramalinga Swamigal) was born on 5 th October 1823 to Ramayya Pillai and Chinanammai in Marudhur of Cuddalore District in Tamil Nadu. His father had five children and Vallalar (Ramalinga Adigalar) was the fifth child.

Sri Ramalinga adigal was born on 05.10.1823 at Marudhur, a village 20 kms from Chidambaram at Tamilnadu. His parents were Ramaiah Pillai and Chinnammai. His father died shortly after his birth and hence the family moved to Ponneri, native town of his mother, where from they shifted to Chennai after two years.
