siggi’s began in 2005 when Siggi Hilmarsson felt homesick for a staple of his childhood diet: skyr. It’s a thick, creamy, high-protein yogurt from his native Iceland. The yogurts he found on shelves in the U.S. were much too sweet and artificial tasting for his liking.

One serving of siggi’s skyr uses 4x the amount of milk as a regular cup of yogurt, making a thick, protein-rich yogurt. how is skyr made? Skyr is an Icelandic style dairy product made by fermenting skim milk with cultures and rennet, then straining the whey for a thick, creamy texture.

siggi’s products are not certified organic. We source our milk from farms that have pledged not to treat their cows with artificial growth hormones, also known as rBST*. All siggi’s products are all natural, and made without artificial sweeteners or flavors. We keep our ingredient list simple!

It is a strained nonfat yogurt made by incubating skim milk with live active cultures. The water naturally found in milk, called whey, is strained away to make a much thicker, creamier, and more concentrated yogurt. It takes approximately four times the milk to make one cup of siggi’s skyr compared to non-strained yogurt.
