2024年10月24日 · Why alter a .44 Magnum cylinder when you can asemble .44 Special loads in .44 Magnum brass ? For many years I have been shooting the Skeeter Skelton load of 7.5 gr. of Unique in .44 Magnum brass. Skeeter used a 240 gr. bullet but I prefer a 200 gr. RNFP cowboy bullet, the load is accurate and pleasant to shoot.

2024年12月2日 · Favorite 44 spl load is 200 lrnfp over 6.4 gns Hp-38 in 44 special cases. This gets bout 800 fps from M696. Have never tried this in a 44 mag, and would be inclined to up the charge a little using 44 mag brass if loading for a 44 mag.

What they didn't have was an exclusive on the 38-44 Outdoorsman (which came along a few years later) with the "caliber option". Yep, you guessed it! You could buy a 38-44 Outdoorsman chambered in .44 Special and damned if it didn't look just like a .44 3rd Target!

2012年3月7日 · I tried out Elmer Keith's .44 Special load using 17.5 or 18.0 grains of H-2400 under my cast bullets, fired by standard large pistol primers, out of my N frame S&W and Colt Model P frame sixguns. They were very powerful and quite hard kicking in the lighter .44 Specials.

2009年4月26日 · I have recently switched to Trail Boss for all my lead bullet revolver loads. A real plus of Trail Boss that it is so bulky that you virtually cannot get a double charge. In contrast Titegroup is very dense and one can get multiple charges in those old straight sided black powder cartridges like 38 Special, 44 Special and 45 Colt.

He wrote how in 1956, he quickly traded his 44 Special in on the then new 44 Magnum but soon found the recoil too much for everyday chores so switched back.
