After glancing at photos it’s an all red GTO based off emblems with a 4 speed but after looking into decoding the vin, I believe it’s a Tempest Lemans, but confused as to why it has GTO emblems on the exterior and interior

2018年10月27日 · While something like 65-70% of '65 GTO's were stickshift, less than 20 % came with tripower. Even fewer were M-21 3.90 cars. Fewer still were coupes. I held onto the only real '65 tripower GTO I came across in 1982 for that very reason....real ones are very rare. Mine's a hardtop, and not a 3.90/M-21 car, so not nearly as rare as your coupe.

2008年3月30日 · You're right about the RPM's, Rukee. But a 421 rev's lower than a 389, and makes more power at lower RPM's. While a 3.55 is the standard gear for a 389 equipped stickshift 3400 pound GTO, the usual gearset for a big Pontiac with a 421 and stickshift seems to be 3.42 or 3.36. 3.55 was considered the best "all-around gear" in the GTO back then.....

2016年2月14日 · I put together the specs on the factory-installed GTO camshafts for the 389/400/455. They are often referenced by their last part number digits, ie "066," "067," "068," etc. They go from mild to radical with the "068" often suggested as a good solid performance street cam in a 389/400 that doesn't get into street/strip territory.
