2020年1月8日 · For me the 460 cartridge in the 460 XVR is the only way to go,, and the 454 Casull in it is not a good match-up. If you can afford to shoot it and keep ammo in your stores, the 460 ammo in the 460 pistol is hard to beat. It is certainly well suited for home loading, and working up a great combination of bullet and powder combinations.

The ammo versatility is second to none, 460, 454, and 45LC is fantastic and I reload the latter. But 460 and 454 look nightmarish to handle for recoil - I did own a 8” 500 for a bit and it wasn’t too bad.

2020年3月19日 · The ammo for your gun is 45 COLT, 454 Casull and 460 S&W Magnum not 45 Auto. you need the rim for the shorter rounds.

2012年9月15日 · 460 ammo is slightly cheaper than 500 ammo plus you have the versatility of being able to fire 454 Casull or 45 Colt for less power and less strain on the wallet. That said, I bought the 500 because as Greg said, it is a good bit of a conversation piece.

2012年4月13日 · Just been cleaning the cylinder face on my 460 XVR and noticed some marks between each chamber and the edge of the cylinder on 4 out of 5 chambers. They look like cracks, however I have only fired about 50 rounds through it since new. (and most of them were .45 LC due to unavailability of ammo).

The recoil from the 460 (mine has a muzzle brake) will quickly destroy a cheap optic. 2012年4月28日 · The .460 is a rather versatile gun and of more interest to me than the .500 as it likely cheaper to shoot. The ability to shoot the .454 and .45 Colt is pretty handy. What a shame that one of the most powerful handguns there is cannot be employed to take large game in a country like yours.

2013年3月22日 · That said, unless you reload or plan to reload you should stick with a .44. If you do reload, cost of shooting the .460 is not much different than that of the .44. Factory ammo is about double or more. I have .357s, .44s and a .460. They all are accurate and all are a blast to shoot. Past 75 yards the .460 outshoots them all, hands down.
