Grendel is a Russian based cartridge dimension (unlike .308 and .223), and from what I can tell, a Grendel AR holds up and shoots steel much more pleasantly, than either of those cartridges will. I would advise your friend get the 6.5 Grendel in a 16" or even pistol or SBR configuration, before the 6.5 Creedmoor.

ELD-VT 100 gr bullet loads - For the 6.5 Grendel Aficionado
2024年7月1日 · I saw the load data on Hodgdon, but the ELD-VT is about 1/3 of an inch longer than the Nosler Partition at the same weight. Unfortunately Hornady also has not published any load data for the Grendel and this bullet. I decided to baseline test at 30.2 grains of CFE223 and OAL of 2.245" (as the factory ELD-VT load measured at).
No 6.5 Grendel CFE 223 Load Data On Hogdon's Website
When I go to Hogdon's site I don't see any loads listed for the 6.5 Grendel using CFE 223. From the indications it looks like it is working well for a lot of people, but I'm a little reluctant to load up rounds for the 6.5 Grendel using a powder that the manufacturer doesn't show in their own load data for this cartridge. What say you guys? Robert

It seems that "zeroing" 1.5 inches high at 100 yards gets most Grendel bullets passing through the point of aim close to 200 yards.
