Why does my alternator belt squeal so much on initial start up?
2009年10月19日 · The initial cranking in the morning causes the alternator belt to really squeal. I replaced the belt and adjusted the new belt's tension several times but it has no effect on the morning squeal! After about 30 second or so the squeal stops and its good for the rest of the day.

2002年7月13日 · Alright.. i've gone through some hell w/ my alternator belt on my 1g. Ever since I removed my AC belt, my alternator belt has flown off 3 times, and I've shredded 2 of them. If i leave it too loose, it flies off. If I tighten it too much, the belt shreds. I'll check my pulleys to make sure they're all lined up and aren't dinged up.

2012年7月20日 · A cracked inner tri-cv boot is actually quite common and will easily splash grease on the belt. It does not have a splash shield in this area to keep grease away. I just replaced my driver side inner boot because it was making my belt squeal horribly. Not enough to leakage to cause damage to the joint, but enough to lube the belt.

If the width is too narrow the belt's bottom will be riding in the pulley's bottom groove and will squeal no matter what the tension. The belt must be tight against the vertical walls of the groove and not touch the bottom.

I did confirm it is my alternator belt by running it for a second, then touching the top/bottom of the belts to feel if they were warm, the alternator belt was HOT. So I untensioned the alternator and spun the alternator pulley, it spun fine and smooth.
