2020年8月22日 · Amoxicillin is a widely utilized beta-lactam antimicrobial drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in the primary care setting. Amoxicillin is an aminopenicillin created by adding an extra amino group to penicillin to battle antibiotic resistance.

Women treated (n = 191) with amoxycillin/clavulanic acid during the first trimester of pregnancy were recruited from two teratogen information centres in Israel. Exposed women were matched for age, smoking habits and alcohol consumption with 191 controls exposed to amoxycillin only for similar medical indications.

A total of 6919 (6.8%) pregnancies were exposed to amoxicillin during the first trimester of pregnancy: 1045 (1.0%) pregnancies were exposed to amoxicillin and 6041 (5.9%) pregnancies to ACA. Of the 1095 pregnancy terminations, 536 (48.9%) were diagnosed by perinatal sonography with major malformations.
