It is best to see your surgeon for wound care instructions. If the belly button does die, you may need a secondary reconstruction to recreate your belly button. Good luck.

I didn't want to "dig" in there to clean it so I let it be hoping the baths will eventually wash it out. It didn't. Certainly lack of blood supply may lead to necrosis (dead skin) and this may lead to a black belly button, but this is often also associated with redness and drainage. The other possibility is that there is a dry scab from a blister or excessive dry skin.
