I have an extremely "fragile" cervix. Not only b/c of the cancer, but the surgeries/procedures I had during round 1 left my cervix damaged pretty hardcore(due to a dumbass crazy bish doctor), and surrounded with scar tissue. They watched me like a hawk last pregnancy.

All of this. An anterior position just means that your cervix will have to move less when in active labor. I have an extremely posterior cervix and in both my pregnancies I walked around 4 cm dilated and most of the way effaced without being in active labor.

When your cervix is long, it is like a tube with the outer end opening into your uterus and the inner end opening into your vagina. So, the part near your uterus is dilating, but the part near your vagina isn't quite there yet. Not all women dilate equally. With a short, 100% effaced, cervix its a non issue because at that point its basically flat.

i had a soft cervix at 28 weeks had a transvaginal ultrasound and found out i hd a dynamic cervix with funneling. to make a long story short theygave me steroid shots at 28 weeks and put on bedrest. Had DS at 36 weeks when they induced me. When I went to the hospital that am i was already 5 cm dilated. DS had no NICU time.

I too am a short cervix girl...At 16 weeks I measured 4 cm & at 20 was down to 2 cm. I did have a cerclage placed but, my cervix shrank further, to 1.4 cm. This is where it stayed until the cerclage was removed at 36 weeks. I am 38 w 1 d today and holding steady. I am fortunate not to have experienced PTL but, did lots of research just in case.
