Nov 21, 2018 · I recently had my catalytic converter stolen on my 2007 Prius. I will perform the repairs myself using the genuine Toyota Catalytic Converter for California per CARB. I'm concerned that by adding a Cat Shield to the underside of my car this will not allow the heat to dissipate away from my Catalytic Converter, thus shortening the life.

May 17, 2020 · Apparently the OEM shield, like a spoiler, diverts air under the catalytic converter, since the cat operates more efficiently at higher temperatures. Also, I have no way of testing whether the smoother shield under the car might slightly reduce air resistance and increase the vehicle's mileage at speed.

Aug 26, 2020 · New Rubber exhaust hangers will fix the issue. For sure! Method #2 is look at cat shield through VENT and look for scratches on cat. Let’s say you see 2 scratches where cat shield VENT rubs on catalytic converters. Use pliers and bend the vent back and forth. Like an open lever on top of soda can. VENT on cat shield snaps off in two bends. Easy!

May 17, 2020 · Toyota installed the Millercat Cat Shield on my Gen 3 Prius today. They said they are seeing more and more cars coming in with the cat stolen. Not just Prius, but also the larger SUVs. The mark-up was pretty hefty: $250.89 for the shield, plus $255.00 for labor, $505.89 total. It took the shop perhaps 1 hour and 30 minutes to install.
