The Celery Fields provide for numerous low-impact activities: walking, biking, fishing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing. Sarasota Audubon’s Nature Center at the intersection of Center Road and Raymond Road is a starting point for all activities.

Part of the excellent Sarasota Audubon, the Celery Fields are guaranteed to delight. There are two boardwalks, well marked and maintained trails, info both posted and provided by knowledgeable and friendly guides. Restrooms available, nature center is open limited hours. The Celery Fields is on the Great Florida Birding Trail and is a popular destination for Sarasota Audubon field trips and outings. The more than 300 acres is also Sarasota County’s primary storm water collection zone, allowing it to serve a dual purpose of public safety and recreation.

“210 species of birds have been identified in the Celery Fields.” It became a great spot for bird watching, walking, running, biking, kite flying, and even horseback riding. On the side of the park there is 75-foot observation man-made hill with benches on the top, where you can see some of Sarasota, and swooping swallows in springtime.

The Nature Center is located in the heart of the Celery Fields – Sarasota County’s number one birding destination! Once an agricultural mecca for celery farmers, today the Celery Fields is the county’s award winning storm water treatment area and one of the ‘birdiest’ places on the Great Florida Birding Trail .

Directions to the Celery Fields From I-75, take Exit 210, Fruitville Road. Go east and make a right at Lakewood Ranch Blvd light, then right at traffic circle onto Apex Road.

This park features several boardwalks with observation decks, is part of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail, and houses the Sarasota Audubon Nature Center. The Celery Fields is the county’s primary flood mitigation zone.
