2024年10月24日 · Multiple Conhost.exe Tasks - Potential Malware Concerns I hope you can help me with an issue I’m experiencing on my Windows computer. I’ve noticed that there are over 11 instances of Console Window Host (conhost.exe) running in Task Manager, and it’s raising some red flags for me.
What is the 'conhost.exe' process that shows up in Task Manager?
conhost.exe is the new host process for console windows. Previously those were handled by csrss.exe which is the “Client Server Runtime Process”, a process running with system-level privileges. Starting with Windows Vista, Microsoft made some very substantial improvements and changes in regard to security.

The 2 csrss.exe are ran by the system but only one of the conhost.exe is the system and the other is ran by NETWORK SERVICE which is what is causing the alarm bells.

I open a Command Prompt and see the conhost.exe process is also running and when I look in Resource Monitor at the conhost.exe process the description is what I consider normal:
