A good drywall adhesive has much more shear strength than screws - and this is just when your glue is on the framing. So if you are doubling up the drywall gluing makes a ton of sense. Just recently my drywall guys started using glue and I can say this, I hope I never have to demo these places because the drywall is ATTACHED.

2014年1月21日 · I then hung the new drywall and found that it was horribly uneven due to some studs being slightly forward or backward in the wall cavity. The original builder probably used the glue to fill these gaps. I used some shims instead of glue and even sistered a few of the studs. It all came out beautiful. Good luck! –

The whole point of Green Glue is to separate two rigid layers, so it makes sense to smooth out the texture or even scrape it off altogether. The ceiling is definitely not level, though. How would one go about leveling a ceiling?

The glue held up great...BUT the paper let go of the drywall. Any place in the house, you could push the drywall back to the stud. So if you glue, it DOES NOT supersede the fastener requirements.
