The Dunes[a] was a hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It opened on May 23, 1955, as the tenth resort on the Strip. It was initially owned by a group of businessmen from out of state, but failed to prosper under their management.

The Dunes Hotel and Casino was one of the oldest casinos on the Strip, opening in 1955. Despite its long history, the hotel faced many financial struggles. In 1993, its time came to an end when it was imploded to make way for the iconic Bellagio.

2024年11月26日 · Shenker announces the Dunes will construct a $65M hotel-casino in Atlantic City. FBI affidavits are unsealed claiming that two confidential informants “both advised that the Kansas City organized crime group headed by Nick Civella has a concealed interest fronted by Shenker at the Dunes.”

On 23 May 1955 the Dunes Hotel and Casino opened – the 10th resort on the Strip, and Las Vegas was booming! Two other casinos had opened in the previous month, the Riviera and Royal Nevada, and the off-Strip Moulin Rouge was planned for the following day.

Tenth resort on the Las Vegas Strip. The casino land currently occupies: Bellagio. The golf course land currently occupies: Aria Campus, Park MGM, New York-New York Hotel and Casino, T-Mobile Arena. Was located at 3600 South Las Vegas Boulevard, Paradise, Nevada.

The Dunes Hotel and Casino was one of three resorts that opened on the Las Vegas Strip in 1955. The hotel, constructed at a cost of $3.5 million, was designed by Robert Dorr Jr. and architectural engineer John Replogle.

2023年5月19日 · The Dunes opened in 1955, in the heat of the first phase of the Las Vegas Strip’s growth, and marked the end of that cycle as the first full resort to be imploded. It’s 38-year run was short, even by Las Vegas standards, but certainly not without event.
