Designed by contemporary artist Hiroshi Sugimoto, Enoura Observatory is a magnificent piece of land art situated among former mandarin orange groves in the coastal area of Enoura in Odawara City. Operated by Sugimoto’s Odawara Art Foundation, the Observatory features a gallery, tea house, outdoor stages and gardens.

かつて蜜柑畑だった小田原市江之浦の地に、現代美術作家・杉本博司が設計した壮大なランドスケープ『小田原文化財団 江之浦測候所』。ギャラリー、屋外舞台、茶室、庭園などで構成され、人類とアートの起源に立ち返り国内外への文化芸術の発信地となる場として構想されました。

Based in Odawara city, the Foundation's Enoura Observatory opened to the public in October 2017. The Enoura Observatory is an art and cultural facility with a stage, exhibition halls, and a tea ceremony room.

A：Enoura Observatory is open for visitors even if it is raining and only closes in the case of severe weather. On a rainy day, visitors can enjoy seeing the sheen of the wet stones and the pearl-like raindrops nestled among the moss.

2024年2月2日 · Enoura Observatory will be open to the public on Wednesday, March 20, a national holiday. As a compensatory holiday for staff, the Observatory will be closed on Monday, March 18. We look forward to welcoming you to the Observatory in the near future.

2025年1月27日 · Enoura Observatory has been holding special full moon viewings several times a year. Hours for each viewing differs according to the time of the moonrise above Sagami Bay. Next special full moon viewing will be held on Sunday, April 13. The reservation will start being accepted from Saturday, February 1.
