      The 1841 census lists one man living in Church Street as a ‘Rag Gatherer’, while ten years later two women are listed as traders in rags. These were 16 year-old Henrietta Boyd, described as a ‘Collector of Rags’, and the 74 year-old widow Margaret Foster, a ‘Rag Maker’.
