2025年1月10日 · Steve Lubanski owned Open Road Bicycles and the adjoining Bunny Museum in Altadena, California. Both businesses burned in the Eaton fire. He says that he and Candace will rebuild The Bunny Museum but not the bike shop. As a bike industry veteran I’m sad but I understand. Steve started Open Road in the late ‘80’s.

On roof peaks, sprinkler system that can only be activated by fire department, so everyone doesn't do at once and drop water pressure. Fire re:t@rdant foam in liquid form that has only to be hooked up to pressure washer to cover whole house.

2017年7月5日 · For Marin riding I'd want the Sequoia, with bigger tire capability to throw in rougher fire road sections. I rode my AWOL from Terra Linda to Bolinas, all on pavement, and loved it. I also rode Loma Alta and the 680 trail and the AWOL was great. Its a heavy bike tho.

2008年9月24日 · I ended up liking the Shimano rapid fire shifters better than the twist and I also liked the Shimano rapid fire over the SRAM thumb shifters...I just did not like the thumb for up and down shifting. My Cannondale Road Warrior used the flat bar 443 rapid fire shifters and my BIL GT used Shimano Deore rapid fires...no problem with either.

I'm in the process of locating an older '70s steel bike to refurbish as a touring bike with tires just slightly bigger so as to handle a fair amount of gravel, fire road, off pavement riding. I'd like to fit racks and fenders, install newer components (700C wheels, brifters, new cassette) etc.

Every winter I spend in Philly, I'm tempted to move back to California; someplace like Ojai or perhaps up near Sacramento. Back in 2003 there was a bad fire in the foothills above Ventura, near where I was stationed. We were all on a 12 hour alert status to evacuate if necessary.
