Once the header was nailed into place, we removed the blocks and slipped metal joist hangers into place. Short stub joists completed the framing from the header to the support beam. Joist hangers were added later to connect the stubs to the LVL header. The last joists are short lengths that run from the support beam to the stair-chase header.

2005年6月23日 · Hangers impart a more complicated system with more parts and a greater chance of failure. By failure I mean unacceptable sagging as well as actual rupture under load. That being said, a properly installed hanger system will outperform any normal requirements (given proper joist and beam sizing), besides that attic garage or roof-top helipad.

I think the best method is to bolt 2x lumber to the top flange of the I-beam, then nail top-mount joist hangers to the lumber. I use 1⁄4-in. by 1 1⁄2-in. lag bolts through the bottom of the top flange.
