One of the things GATTACA brilliantly sets up is this idea of genetic classes based on who could afford artificial selection. I probably wouldn't be able to afford it for my kid, but others would. And once you make these changes, they extend to future generations, meaning you now have an even greater leg up on the poorer, genetically disadvantaged.

Sep 1, 2020 · Gattaca (1997) Such a gorgeous movie. Watched it as a kid back when it came out, when I was 13. It made me cry! Watching it again, over 20 years later, really hits differently. This movie is art. The parents and brother were such assholes. For it to be set in the future, you would think their parenting skills would be better.

When you look at it....other than personal issues that the characters face...there’s not much in the way of suffering in the world of Gattaca.

Mar 9, 2022 · GATTACA is still a fantastic movie. The chemistry between Jude Law and Ethan Hawke is fantastic. The premise may be a bit hokey but I can't help but watch the movie all the way through. The real star though, is the score. Michael Nyman is just on fire with the music he composed. It absolutely sells the world and all that it entails.
