George Ernest (Chinese) Morrison (1862-1920), journalist, traveller and political adviser to the Chinese government, was born on 4 February 1862 at Newtown, Geelong, Victoria, eldest son of George Morrison and his wife Rebecca, née Greenwood.
George Ernest Morrison (1862–1920), traveller, medical doctor, journalist and political advisor, was the first Times of London correspondent in Beijing. Appointed to the post in 1897, he resigned in 1912 to take up a position as advisor to the newly formed Chinese government. He served in that capacity until his death in England in 1920.
